Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you all had a relaxing and fun filled summer. I am really looking forward to the year ahead! We are delighted to welcome Mr. Beresford to our class this term, and he will be working alongside us from September through to Christmas!
For our first text in English, we will be reading ‘The Great Pet Sale’ and the children will be writing some entertaining instructions. Following this we will be reading ‘The Storm Whale’ where the children will develop their narrative writing skills! In History we will be learning about the Bronze Age and Iron Age. In Science, children will be learning about Animals including Habitats.
This term P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Children will still be required to attend school in PE Kit on these days. Please ensure that your child/ children have appropriate P.E. kit and that, for health and safety reasons, earrings are removed for P.E and that anyone with hair longer than shoulder length has their hair tied back. We are very lucky that Mrs. Barnard will be taking children for Forest School on a Tuesday so please ensure that children have an appropriate change of clothes (long sleeved top and long trousers).
Please ensure children bring a named bottle of water to drink during the day and that all uniform is named to avoid things getting lost.
Children will have an optional home learning task each half term along with details of required home learning tasks. We expect your children to read for 30 minutes a week. They are also expected to complete 30 minutes of Timetables Rockstars (passwords for this will also be sent out in the coming weeks). If you would like any additional resources to support your children at home then please contact me through the office.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office or at the door at drop off or pick up. I am excited to begin the new school year and see what we can achieve as Owls class.
Kind regards,
Miss Emma Barron
