Dear Families and Carers,
We hope you had a fun filled summer holidays!
We are very excited to start the new school year with Robins class! For all of the Robins, this will be their first year of school- we can’t wait to welcome the children in. It is natural for the children (and parents) to feel a range of emotions as we enter the school year, but please know that Reception team will be here to support you every step of the way.
We have lots of lovely toys in school, so we ask that children do not bring in any from home. We appreciate that some children may require support from a teddy or comfort toy but we do encourage the children to keep these in their bags or on our desk as much as possible.
We have attached our curriculum grid which outlines what the children will be learning this term. In English, the children are starting the year by reading books with the theme of ‘All About Me’ and will make their own book!
This term P.E. will be on Mondays and Fridays. Children should attend school in PE Kit on these days. Please ensure that children have appropriate P.E. kit and that, for health and safety reasons, earrings are removed for P.E. Anyone with hair longer than shoulder length should have their hair tied back every day.
PE kit:
Trainers
Plain navy or black shorts, legging or jogging bottoms (depending on the weather)
A blue school t-shirt with a logo or a plain white, navy or black t-shirt or polo shirt
A school sweatshirt (no hoodies)
We are also pleased to share that Treetops will take place every Tuesday. On these days, children should come to school wearing their uniform. As we will be outdoors exploring, playing and learning in nature. Legs and arms will need to be covered. Please ensure they have named wellingtons and named weather suitable coats.
Please ensure children bring a named bottle of water (not a Stanley type water bottle) to drink during the day and that all uniforms are named to avoid things getting lost. We also suggest that children have a spare change of clothes with them. We have some uniforms in school, but don't have many pairs of pants and socks.
Children will be sent home with required home learning (reading). Books will be sent home once we have completed reading assessments with the children, so that they get a book that is just right for them.
