Aim High, Fly High
Dear Parents/Carers,
I hope you all had a fun filled summer holidays!
I am very excited to start the new school year with Starlings class! It is very natural for the children (and parents) to be feeling lots of different emotions as we enter the school year but please know that the team in Starling Class will be here to support you every step of the way. I have attached our curriculum map which outlines what your child/children will be learning this term.
This term P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We also have Treetops on a Tuesday. Children should attend school in PE Kit on these days. Please ensure that your child/ children have appropriate P.E. kit clothing and for health and safety reasons, earrings are removed for P.E. Hair longer than shoulder length should also be tied back.
PE kit:
Trainers
Plain navy or black shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms (depending on the weather)
A blue school t-shirt with a logo or a plain white, navy or black t-shirt or polo shirt
A school sweatshirt (no hoodies)
Forest school clothing:
Wellies
Long sleeve clothing such as joggers and a long top (please make sure these are items you do not mind getting muddy).
Please ensure children bring a named bottle of water to drink during the day and that all uniforms are named to avoid things getting lost.
Children will be sent home with an optional home learning task which they may choose to complete in addition to the required home learning.
We encourage families to read as often as possible. Books will be sent home once we have completed reading assessments with the children. Reading books will be changed on Mondays but please ensure your child brings their reading book to school daily so we can support their reading in class.
Year one children can use the following websites to support their maths knowledge:

Year two children are expected to access Timetables Rockstars for 30 minutes a week. There are also learning resources for a variety of subjects on Starz if you wish to do some additional work with your child/ children.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office or at the door at drop off or pick up. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve and learn together this year.
Kind regards,
Mrs Sadiya Khan
